Chicago residents discover the benefits of a dental restoration

Patients who have teeth with large cavities, or teeth that are broken or missing can be embarrassed by their smiles. They tend to avoid social situations, and laughing or smiling. They end up missing out on a lot of fun activities, meeting new people, and, the condition of their teeth can affect their careers.

There are a number of reasons people may need full mouth reconstruction. Dr. Peter W. Fry, DDS, knows that all patients are different, and so are the reasons that bring them to his office. These reasons often include not getting the much-needed orthodontic work as a child, years of neglect, or an accident that caused massive damage in an instant. No matter what brings you to his office he will work to create a treatment plan that will restore your oral health and the aesthetics of your smile.

The treatment process
Every patient is different and so are his or her dental needs. The time frame to complete a restoration depends on the procedures you need. It can take a couple of years to complete if orthodontics treatments are needed.

Some of the treatments that are commonly included in a full mouth reconstruction are:
  • Composite resin fillings –When a tooth has a cavity, these fillings can restore the health of the tooth without damaging the aesthetics of the smile.
  • Dental crown –When a tooth cannot be restored with a filling but the root is still healthy Dr. Fry can restore it will a dental crown.
  • Fixed dental bridge –If a tooth has extensive damage and it must be extracted, a bridge is a common restoration option. They can replace the missing tooth and restore the aesthetics of the smile.
  • Implants –These offer an alternate to a fixed dental bridge. They can replace one tooth, or multiple teeth. They do not require healthy tooth structure to be removed as a bridge does.
  • Orthodontics –Crooked and crowded teeth can have a negative impact on a patient’s oral health in addition to the aesthetics of his or her smile.
